Faith over Fear

Sometimes fear can cripple us.

For most of us it’s not permanent. It’s just enough to take the wind out of our sails. Deflating us.

Some use fear as a tool. We call them “the enemy”. Some of us get completely paralyzed, paranoid and even panic. For me, for many many years, it was an unhealthy motivator. It’s pushed me in all the wrong directions. I would say to myself, “what if I die tomorrow, I better go live today”. In reality it was no life at all. If I did die tomorrow, that last little bit of living wouldn’t have helped me.

Have you heard the saying “fear is liar”?  Well, fear IS a liar! The enemy IS a liar!

What about, “a healthy fear”? I think with the right mindset, that’s very true too.

Here’s where I’m going with this. See for our family, we are believers in Jesus Christ.

We have faith in our God.  Faith is greater than fear.

So a healthy fear has us turn to our God and remember His word. Our need for His strength comes out of our fear. Faith isn’t the absence of fear, it’s the power to move through it. He is our power. Fear NEVER moves you forward. When you admit you’re powerless you make room for His power. That is a freedom like you can never get on our own. Trust me.

Deuteronomy 31:8 says  “He will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

What things?

All things. Even fear.

Isaiah 43:1 “Don’t fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine.”

Fear is normal. Especially during this 2020/2021 life we are living. These are not exactly calming times. However, that doesn’t change a believers connection with our God. If anything it strengthens it. We have an opportunity to lean in and on Him. That’s how we turn our blind faith into our testimony. Something we can pint to for others, but also draw from when fear comes. It’s a relationship, a marriage, a true and perfect love.

1 John 4:18 “Perfect Love Casts Out All Fear”

So when you find yourself afraid,  find your faith. It’s greater than your fear.
